Why teams look for a Productive alternative
Productive is agency software for resources, projects and finances, made for agencies and consultancies. These are the usual reasons to look elsewhere.
- The bill grows with every hire. Professional is $25 per user a month billed annually, so 10 users cost $250 a month and 15 cost $375 (read 14 September 2026). Paid monthly, it is $29 per user.
- A 3-seat minimum. A two-person studio pays for three.
- An English-only interface. Productive’s help centre lists English only. If your team works in Georgian, you notice that every day.
- Keeping it in one tool. Whatever replaces Productive has to keep time, capacity and invoicing together. Otherwise you pay for two tools and fill the gap by hand.
Know what Productive does well before you leave. It has a sales pipeline today, so deals and delivery sit in one system. PLYNTUM does not have that yet: its sales CRM is planned, not available. If the pipeline is central to how you win work, that matters more than the price difference.
How we chose these nine
A tool had to pass three tests.
- It runs client work, or a clear part of it: projects, time, capacity and billing. Where it covers only part, we say which.
- Its pricing is published, or clearly quote-only. Accelo and Kantata publish no prices but stay on the list as real options for larger firms.
- It is made for service businesses, or it is the cheaper general tool teams weigh up instead, which is why ClickUp and monday.com are here.
Every figure comes from the vendor’s own pricing page, read on 14 September 2026. Prices are in the vendor’s currency, exclude tax and assume annual billing unless stated. A cost for 10 people is arithmetic on the published price, not a quote. Prices change, so check before you buy.
The tools are not ranked. PLYNTUM is our product: it is on the list, and it is not placed first.
Close, but not in the nine: Workamajig, for full accounting with a general ledger (minimum 10 users), and Paymo or Bonsai for small teams and independents.
Nine Productive alternatives
Teamwork.com
Teamwork.com is professional services software for projects, resources and financials. Basics is $9.99 and Accelerate $24.99 per user a month billed annually; Optimize and Enterprise are on request (read 14 September 2026). Ten users on Accelerate cost $249.90 a month, about the same as Productive Professional. There is a free plan for up to 5 users and a 14-day trial.
Its strength is a focus on client projects, with resources and money beside the tasks. It also charges per user, so it fixes a feature problem more than a cost one. PLYNTUM vs Teamwork.com
Best for: teams wanting a like-for-like switch, or a free plan for up to 5 users.
Scoro
Scoro is one platform for projects, resourcing and finances, aimed at consultancies, agencies and engineering firms. App combinations cost €15–€52 per user a month, minimum 5 users; the billing cycle is not labelled, annual billing saves 13–17%, and onboarding and add-ons cost extra (read 14 September 2026). For 10 users that is roughly €150–€520 a month depending on the apps: an estimate, not a quote. There is a 14-day trial.
Its strength is the commercial side: quoting, a sales CRM, resource planning, and quoted-vs-actual and work-in-progress reports. PLYNTUM vs Scoro
Best for: firms that quote every job and want the CRM in the same system.
Accelo
Accelo is professional services automation (PSA) for client work from quote to invoice. It publishes neither a price nor a trial; you ask for a quote (read 14 September 2026).
Its strength is depth along the whole chain. Quotes, retainers, tickets and contracts connect to the work and to the invoice, which suits established service firms with settled processes. If you are leaving Productive over cost, you cannot compare it before a sales call. PLYNTUM vs Accelo
Best for: established service firms that need retainers, tickets and contracts from quote to invoice.
Kantata
Kantata, formerly Mavenlink and since merged with Kimble, is PSA for larger services organisations. It does not publish a price (read 14 September 2026).
Its strength is scale: resource forecasting, matching people to work by skill, and financial management at revenue level. If you have outgrown Productive, Kantata is the step up in depth; if cost is the reason, you cannot check it without asking. PLYNTUM vs Kantata
Best for: larger services organisations that plan people by skill and forecast resources.
Function Point
Function Point is agency management software for creative and marketing agencies. Standardize is $53 and Optimize $62 per user a month billed annually ($58 and $68 monthly), plus an onboarding fee; no free trial is stated (read 14 September 2026). Ten users on Standardize cost $530 a month before onboarding, over twice Productive Professional.
Its strength is focus: it is made specifically for creative and marketing agencies. At this price it makes most sense if cost is not why you are leaving. PLYNTUM vs Function Point
Best for: creative and marketing agencies that want software built only for agencies.
Harvest + Forecast
Harvest is time tracking with invoicing; resource planning is a separate product, Forecast. Harvest Teams is $9 and Enterprise $14 per seat a month (usage fees may apply), and Forecast $5 per person a month, all billed annually (read 14 September 2026). Ten people on Teams plus Forecast cost $140 a month. There is a free plan for 1 user and 2 projects, and a 30-day trial.
Its strength is time tracking that people actually fill in, a long track record and many integrations. Tasks you run in Productive would need another tool. PLYNTUM vs Harvest
Best for: teams whose main need is reliable time tracking and invoicing at low cost.
ClickUp
ClickUp is one app for tasks, docs, goals and chat, for any team. Unlimited is $7 and Business $12 per user a month billed annually; there is a Free Forever plan and an AI add-on from $9 per user (read 14 September 2026). Ten users on Business cost $120 a month.
Its strengths are the free plan and a very large feature surface. The trade-off is the finance side: invoices live in another system that has to match your hours. PLYNTUM vs ClickUp
Best for: teams that mainly need flexible task management and already invoice elsewhere.
monday.com
monday.com calls itself an AI work platform; its Work Management product covers projects and tasks. Basic is $9, Standard $12 and Pro $19 per seat a month billed annually, minimum 3 seats, with a free plan for up to 2 seats and a 14-day Pro trial (read 14 September 2026). Ten seats on Pro cost $190 a month.
Its strength is breadth, with a free plan to start on. Its Work Management plans do not list invoices, expenses or receivables, so it replaces the delivery half of Productive, not the finance half. PLYNTUM vs monday.com
Best for: teams that want a general work platform and invoice from another tool.
PLYNTUM
PLYNTUM is business management software for service companies: projects, clients, capacity, time, invoices and receivables in one workspace, priced per workspace with members included. Core is $150 a month for 10 members, or $120 billed annually, against $250 for 10 users on Productive Professional (read 14 September 2026). Launch is $55 for 5 members and Scale $450 for 25; only Launch has a 7-day free trial. The interface is in Georgian and English.
What it lacks: no sales CRM yet (it is planned), no desktop time capture yet, and it is not accounting software. PLYNTUM vs Productive
Best for: service teams that want projects, time and invoicing in one tool at one workspace price.
How to choose
Start from what you actually use in Productive.
- You rely on the sales pipeline: Scoro, or stay with Productive. PLYNTUM’s CRM is still planned.
- Quotes, retainers, tickets and contracts must run through to the invoice: Accelo.
- You are a large firm planning people by skill: Kantata.
- You are a creative or marketing agency and cost is not the issue: Function Point.
- You want a similar per-user tool, or a free plan for up to 5 users: Teamwork.com.
- You mainly need time tracking and invoices at low cost: Harvest + Forecast.
- You mainly need tasks and already invoice from accounting software: ClickUp or monday.com.
- You want projects, time, capacity and invoicing together at one price, or a Georgian interface: PLYNTUM.
Two checks on price. Productive’s own Essential plan is $10 per user, $100 a month for 10 users (read 14 September 2026). And above Core, PLYNTUM’s next plan is Scale at $360 a month billed annually, which for 11 to 14 people costs more than Productive Professional ($275–$350). Run your own figures in the stack calculator.
Moving from Productive
There is no one-click importer from Productive. Data comes across through CSV exports and manual set-up. Before you cancel, export:
- Clients, with contacts and billing details.
- Open projects, with their budgets or fixed fees and status.
- Time history: at least the entries on open projects, with person, date, task and hours. Keep the full export as an archive.
- Rates: what you bill each client or role, and what each person costs. In PLYNTUM, loaded hourly cost is held per person and salary figures are visible to leadership only.
- Unpaid invoices, so receivables do not get lost between systems.
Then run both for two weeks. Log time in both, compare hours per project at the end of each week, and raise the next invoices from PLYNTUM only when the totals match. It is extra work, but it catches missing rates and misfiled hours before a client sees them.
If you pay Productive annually, time the switch for your renewal date; month to month, Professional is $29 per user (read 14 September 2026). If you depend on the pipeline, keep deals in Productive or a separate CRM until PLYNTUM’s sales CRM is available. For help planning a move, get in touch.
