HoneyBook alternatives for small agencies and studios: six options and where PLYNTUM fits
HoneyBook runs one client flow: inquiry, proposal, contract, invoice and online payment, with a scheduler and a mobile app. Small agencies and studios look for an alternative when a third team member means moving to Premium, or when they need hours and profit per project. Dubsado, Moxie and Bonsai keep that flow; Ignition is built around proposals and billing; Productive, Paymo and PLYNTUM add time and team work.
Key facts
- HoneyBook pricing
- Per account: Starter $29, Essentials $49 and Premium $109 a month billed yearly ($36, $59 and $129 monthly), checked 24 October 2026. Its full plan table, read 25 October 2026, lists no team members on Starter, up to 2 on Essentials and unlimited on Premium.
- What HoneyBook lacks for team delivery
- No time tracking or timesheets in its plan table; its “profits by project” is income and expenses organized by project.
- Where HoneyBook is stronger
- Proposals clients book, sign and pay from one file, contracts with e-signatures, card and bank payments (card fees from 2.9% + 25¢), a scheduler, automations, a mobile app, and QuickBooks Online sync from Essentials.
- Lower-cost options with the same client flow
- For 5 people billed annually: Moxie Teams $385 a year (about $32 a month) for up to five team members; Dubsado Premier about $68.75 a month including its $25 monthly team fee; HoneyBook Premium $109.
- PLYNTUM for 5 people
- Launch costs $55 a month for up to 5 members, or $44 billed annually. Timesheet approval, project profitability, recurring invoices and the client portal need Core: $150, or $120 billed annually, for up to 10. No online payments, contracts or e-signatures.

Why small agencies and studios look beyond HoneyBook
HoneyBook is client management software for independent businesses: proposals that clients book, sign and pay from one file, contracts with e-signatures, invoices paid by card or bank transfer, a scheduler, lead forms, automations and a mobile app. It is priced per account: Starter is $29 a month billed yearly ($36 monthly), Essentials $49 ($59) and Premium $109 ($129), and card payments cost from 2.9% + 25¢ (prices checked 24 October 2026). For one person or a pair, that covers most of the admin. Teams that deliver client projects together usually leave for one of these reasons.
- The price more than doubles at the third team member. HoneyBook’s full plan table lists no team members on Starter, up to 2 on Essentials and unlimited on Premium. A studio that adds a third team member moves from $49 to $109 a month billed yearly.
- No hours. There is no time tracking or timesheet row anywhere in HoneyBook’s plan table. Its “profits by project” is described as income and expenses organized by project.
- Tasks, not team delivery. Task management is on every plan and assigning tasks to team members starts on Essentials, but the table lists no timesheet approval or workload planning.
- Where you can get paid. HoneyBook’s help center describes bank-account setup for the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. If your business is elsewhere, check payouts before you sign up.
- The language. We found no Georgian interface in HoneyBook’s published information. PLYNTUM works in Georgian and English.
If proposals, contracts and card payments are how you win and collect work, and one or two people run it, HoneyBook is probably still the right tool. Its prices sit next to other billing tools in agency billing software.
How to choose a HoneyBook alternative
- Do clients sign and pay inside the tool? Dubsado, Moxie, Bonsai and Ignition keep proposals, contracts and online payments. Productive exports proposals to PDF. PLYNTUM has no client-facing proposals, contracts, e-signatures or online payments.
- How many people need a login? HoneyBook and Moxie limit team members by plan (Moxie Teams lists up to five). Dubsado includes the owner and three team members, then charges $25 a month for four to ten. Ignition sells 3 users on Core and 15 on Pro. Bonsai, Productive and Paymo charge per user; PLYNTUM charges per workspace, members included.
- Do you need hours? Bonsai, Moxie, Productive and Paymo track time on every plan, Dubsado on Premier. HoneyBook and Ignition list no time tracking.
- Does someone approve hours and check margin? Productive has time approvals from Professional and Paymo timesheet approvals on Pro; Bonsai has profit reports on Premium and Paymo project profitability on Plus. PLYNTUM has manager approval and project profitability from Core. In the Dubsado and Moxie documentation we read, we found no approval step.
- Does your accountant need a sync? HoneyBook syncs with QuickBooks Online from Essentials, Dubsado with QuickBooks Online and Xero on Premier, Moxie with QuickBooks from Pro, Bonsai with QuickBooks and Xero from Premium, and Ignition with Xero and QuickBooks Online on every plan. PLYNTUM gives your accountant CSV exports.
- Where is your business? Before you move client data, check which countries each tool pays out to and which languages it offers.
Prices in this text are the vendors’ own, excluding tax and on annual billing unless stated. HoneyBook, Ignition, Bonsai, Productive and Paymo were checked on 24 October 2026, Dubsado and Moxie on 25 October 2026; that day we also re-read HoneyBook’s and Ignition’s full plan tables, at unchanged prices. Team costs are arithmetic, not quotes. Nothing is ranked, and PLYNTUM, which we make, has its own section.
Six HoneyBook alternatives
Dubsado
Dubsado is client management software for service businesses: forms, proposals, contracts, invoices with payment plans, client portals and workflows. Starter is $35 a month or $335 a year; Premier is $55 a month or $525 a year, about $43.75 a month. Premier adds scheduling, automated workflows, public proposals, a bookkeeping integration and Zapier. The owner and three team members are included; four to ten team members add $25 a month. Clients pay through Dubsado Payments, Square or PayPal. Its help center places time tracking on Premier, with entries added to invoices. The trial is 21 days on Premier, with no card (checked 25 October 2026).
Dubsado’s help center is plain about its limits: the scheduler uses only the owner’s calendar, one email account connects per workspace, and the tool is built around communicating with clients rather than team collaboration.
Best for: a small team that wants the same client flow at a lower team price.
Moxie
Moxie is client and project software for freelancers and small teams. Starter is $10 a month billed yearly ($12 monthly), Pro $20 ($25) and Teams $385 a year, about $32 a month ($40 monthly). Every plan includes client and project management, invoicing and payments, proposals, quotes and contracts, time tracking, a sales pipeline, basic accounting and meeting schedulers. Pro adds a white-labeled client portal, workflow automations and QuickBooks; Teams adds up to five team members. The pricing page shows no price for a larger team, and the trial is 14 days (checked 25 October 2026).
Best for: teams of up to five that want HoneyBook’s client flow plus time tracking and projects, at the lowest five-person price in this list.
Bonsai
Bonsai is an all-in-one tool for freelancers and small agencies, priced per user. Basic is $9, Essentials $19, Premium $29 and Elite $49 per user a month billed annually ($15, $25, $39 and $59 monthly); Elite needs at least 3 users, and the trial is 7 days. Basic has time tracking, tasks, projects and a CRM. Essentials adds invoices and online payments, proposals and contracts, scheduling and a client portal; Premium adds timesheets, profit reports, a deals pipeline and QuickBooks and Xero. The pricing page lists no timesheet approval; Elite has timesheet locking (checked 24 October 2026). PLYNTUM vs Bonsai
Best for: small teams that want HoneyBook’s flow plus time tracking, paying per person.
Ignition
Ignition is built around proposals and billing: branded online proposals with e-signatures, engagement letters and contract terms, automated payment collection, and one-off, recurring or hourly billing, with Xero and QuickBooks Online on every plan. It is priced per account by users. Solo is $39 a month billed annually ($49 monthly) for one user and solo businesses under $150k in annual revenue; Core is $99 ($149) for 3 users and Pro $229 ($279) for 15. Card payments start at 2.5% + $0.30, and a deals pipeline is a $49 monthly add-on below Pro+. The pricing page lists no time tracking; the trial is 14 days (prices checked 24 October 2026). Its integrations include practice tools for accounting firms, such as Xero Practice Manager and Karbon.
Best for: firms that sell recurring services through signed proposals and want billing to follow on its own.
Productive
Productive is agency software for sales, projects, resources and finances, priced per user with a 3-seat minimum: Essential is $10 and Professional $25 a month billed annually ($12 and $29 monthly), with a 14-day trial. Every plan has deals and a pipeline, proposal export to PDF, budgets, time tracking, resource planning and invoices sent to the client. Professional adds time approvals, rate cards, retainer invoicing, payment reminders and accounting integrations. The interface is in English only (checked 24 October 2026). PLYNTUM vs Productive
Best for: agencies that have outgrown a client-flow tool and want budgets, resourcing and approvals.
Paymo
Paymo is work management with time tracking and invoicing for small teams. Billed annually, Plus is $10.90 per user a month and Pro $16.90, the same as its current time-limited three-month offer; monthly prices are $15.90 and $23.90, and Solo is $5.90 ($9.90) for one user. Invoices are on every plan; recurring invoices and project profitability come with Plus, and timesheet approvals with Pro. There is a free plan for one user and a 15-day trial (checked 24 October 2026). PLYNTUM vs Paymo
Best for: small teams that want tasks, hours and invoices together at a low per-user price.
What HoneyBook and the alternatives cost for a team of five
Five people, owner included, on the plan such a team would compare, per month and before tax. It is arithmetic, not a quote: card fees and add-ons are left out, and the plans differ in scope.
| Tool and plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| HoneyBook Premium | $109 | $129 | Essentials ($49 / $59) has up to 2 team members |
| Dubsado Premier | $68.75 | $80 | $525 a year plus $25 a month for 4 to 10 team members; Starter $52.92 / $60 |
| Moxie Teams | $32.08 | $40 | $385 a year; up to five team members |
| Bonsai Essentials | $95 | $125 | Premium, with timesheets and profit reports: $145 / $195 |
| Ignition Pro | $229 | $279 | Core ($99 / $149) covers 3 users |
| Productive Professional | $125 | $145 | Time approvals; Essential $50 / $60 |
| Paymo Plus | $54.50 | $79.50 | Annual price equals a time-limited offer; Pro, with approvals: $84.50 / $119.50 |
| PLYNTUM Launch | $44 | $55 | Up to 5 members and 10 active clients; no approval, profitability or portal |
| PLYNTUM Core | $120 | $150 | Up to 10 members; approval, profitability, recurring invoices, portal |
For five people billed annually, Moxie Teams, PLYNTUM Launch, Paymo Plus, Dubsado Premier and Bonsai Essentials cost less than HoneyBook Premium; PLYNTUM Core, Productive Professional and Ignition Pro cost more. Core comes to $1,440 a year, HoneyBook Premium to $1,308. Dubsado shows its team fee per month and does not say whether annual billing changes it. At ten people, HoneyBook Premium stays at $109 and Dubsado Premier at $68.75, PLYNTUM Core is $120, and Moxie shows no price.
Where PLYNTUM fits, and where it does not
PLYNTUM is business management software for agencies and service companies: projects and tasks, recorded time, people, invoices, expenses and receivables, with CRM core, in one workspace. It does not replace HoneyBook’s signing and paying flow; it covers the delivery of the work and the money around it.
- Hours on the project. On every plan, people record time against a task with a timer or by hand, as billable or non-billable. From Core, a manager approves each person’s week, which locks it. See timesheet approval.
- Profit per project. From Core, project profitability sets labor cost, logged hours times each person’s hourly cost derived from salary and working hours, plus project expenses, against the project value.
- Billing. On every plan you write each invoice with free-form lines, in GEL, USD or EUR, and share it by link, email it once the workspace’s email sending is set up, or save it as a PDF. You record each payment against the invoice, and receivables show what is still open. Recurring invoices and drafts from approved time start on Core.
- Clients. From Core, each client can get a private, read-only portal link to their projects, invoices, payments and balance, with no account or password.
- People. Leave requests with manager approval are on every plan, and the interface is in Georgian and English.
Where it does not fit.
- No client-facing proposals, contracts or e-signatures. Proposal drafts, from Core, are internal and are not emailed to clients.
- No online payments. There are no card payments or payment links for clients; you record each payment by hand.
- No booking scheduler. Clients cannot book a session through PLYNTUM.
- No accounting sync. Your accountant gets CSV exports; there is no QuickBooks or Xero integration today.
- No native mobile app. PLYNTUM works in the mobile browser; HoneyBook lists a mobile app on every plan.
- It can cost more. For five people who need approval and profitability, Core is $120 a month billed annually, against $109 for HoneyBook Premium.
Launch costs $55 a month for up to 5 members, or $44 a month billed annually; Core $150 for up to 10, or $120. See pricing.
When to stay with HoneyBook
- Clients book, sign and pay from one file. If proposals, contracts and card payments are how you win and collect work, HoneyBook does that on every plan; PLYNTUM does none of it.
- You work alone, or with up to two team members. Working alone, Starter at $29 a month billed yearly costs less than PLYNTUM Launch at $44. With team members you need Essentials, at $49: it includes up to two, unlimited scheduler sessions and automations. At that size you may not need approvals yet.
- Sessions and bookings start your work. In HoneyBook clients book a session and pay in one step; PLYNTUM has no booking scheduler.
- Your accountant works in QuickBooks Online. HoneyBook syncs payments with it from Essentials.
- You only lack hours and margin. Keep the client flow in HoneyBook and add a time tool, or run PLYNTUM next to it. The two are not connected, so you create each client and project by hand.
Moving from HoneyBook to PLYNTUM
There is no HoneyBook importer. PLYNTUM’s CSV import covers clients, employees and expenses, with a preview and an undo within 24 hours; projects, unpaid invoices and deals are set up by hand.
- Decide what stays in HoneyBook. If clients sign and pay there, you can keep that part and move only delivery, hours and margin.
- Keep your files. Before you cancel, check HoneyBook’s export options and save signed contracts, proposals and invoices in your own storage.
- Import clients and employees. Add them through the CSV import, check the preview and confirm.
- Set up projects and unpaid invoices. Give each active project its value and tasks, and enter unpaid invoices by hand so nothing owed goes missing.
- Record time from day one. After a month, compare one client’s hours, invoices and margin, then decide on the rest.
Start on Launch’s 7-day trial, with no card; timesheet approval, profitability, recurring invoices and the client portal need Core. For help planning the move, write to us.
