It is not built for retail, restaurants or inventory, and it is not accounting software.","sections":[{"heading":"Who PLYNTUM is for, and who it is not for","html":"<p>PLYNTUM is business management software for small businesses that sell people’s time and expertise to clients, usually teams of 3 to 30. Typical examples:</p><ul><li><a href=\"{{route:solutions/agencies}}\">marketing, creative and digital agencies</a>, and design or video studios;</li><li><a href=\"{{route:solutions/consulting}}\">consultancies</a> and training companies;</li><li>IT and software shops that build or run projects for clients;</li><li>accounting and bookkeeping practices;</li><li>architecture and engineering offices.</li></ul><p>What they share: work is organised by client and project, most of the cost is people’s hours, and income depends on invoices going out on time and getting paid.</p><h3>Who it is not for</h3><p>If your business runs on stock or a till, PLYNTUM is the wrong tool. Retail shops, restaurants, cafés and e-commerce stores need a point-of-sale (POS) system or an e-commerce platform with inventory. Manufacturers need inventory and production planning software, often part of an ERP. Both usually connect to accounting software. PLYNTUM has no inventory and no point of sale.</p><p>It is not accounting or payroll software either: no ledger, no bank feeds, no tax filing, no payroll. Keep the books and salaries in accounting and payroll software, usually with your accountant. PLYNTUM runs the client work; your accountant still keeps the books.</p><p>One more case: if you provide IT support through tickets and device monitoring, you need an IT service-desk tool. PLYNTUM has no ticketing, and the <a href=\"{{route:professional-services-automation}}\">professional services automation page</a> explains the difference.</p>"},{"heading":"What running a small service business involves week to week","html":"<p>Whatever the trade, the week in a small service firm looks much the same:</p><ul><li><strong>Clients</strong> send requests, approve work and ask where things stand.</li><li><strong>Projects</strong> are broken into tasks with owners and dates, and some work repeats every month.</li><li><strong>People</strong> have more or less time than you think: one is on leave, another is spread across three projects.</li><li><strong>Hours</strong> are logged, or rebuilt from memory on Friday, and they decide both the cost of the work and what you can bill.</li><li><strong>Invoices</strong> go out at month end, some on a schedule for retainer clients.</li><li><strong>Payments</strong> arrive late, and someone has to notice which ones.</li></ul><h3>Why it ends up in four to six tools</h3><p>Each job gets its own fix the first time it hurts. A task app for projects. A spreadsheet for hours. Invoices from the accounting software or a document template. Then a chat app, a shared drive and one more spreadsheet for who is off next week. Each tool works on its own. The trouble is in between:</p><ul><li>hours are retyped from the spreadsheet into the invoice, and some never arrive;</li><li>what a project earned becomes clear weeks after it closed;</li><li>the answer to “can we take this on?” depends on who you ask;</li><li>you become the link between the systems, usually in the evening.</li></ul><p>Good small business management software replaces the links, not only the tools: one record where a client, its projects, the hours worked and the invoices sent point to each other.</p>"},{"heading":"What PLYNTUM puts in one workspace","html":"<p>Everything below lives in one workspace per company. The interface is in English and Georgian, and Google sign-in and two-factor authentication come with every plan.</p><h3>Clients and projects</h3><p>Client records, and <a href=\"{{route:platform/work}}\">projects and tasks</a> with owners and dates, shown as a list, a board, a calendar or a timeline of the same tasks. Team requests and approvals, team chat, files and recurring work sit in the same workspace instead of in separate apps. From Core, clients get a scoped client portal: they see their own work, not the rest of your workspace.</p><h3>People and time</h3><p>Assignments, attendance and leave for each person, so you can see who has room before you say yes to new work. <a href=\"{{route:platform/time}}\">Time tracking</a> is manual and on every plan: each hour belongs to a task, the task to a project and a client. Every logged hour counts as cost at each person’s loaded hourly cost; from Core, a manager approves timesheets, which locks each week. Salary figures are visible to leadership only.</p><h3>Invoices, expenses and payments</h3><p><a href=\"{{route:platform/finance}}\">Invoices, payments, expenses and receivables</a> sit in the same workspace as the projects. Basic invoices and receivables are on every plan; recurring invoices for retainer clients start on Core. Project profitability sets logged hours and direct expenses against the project value while the work is still running.</p><p>Say a project is worth $12,000. The team has 180 logged hours at an average loaded cost of $40 an hour, which is $7,200, plus $800 of direct expenses. Total cost is $8,000 and profit $4,000, a margin of 33%, and you see it before the final invoice goes out.</p><h3>More than one company</h3><p>If you run two businesses, each gets its own <a href=\"{{route:platform/workspaces}}\">workspace</a> with its own clients, projects, members and permissions, under one login. This is included in every plan.</p>"},{"heading":"Project management for a small service business","html":"<p>Small business project management software is easy to find; almost any task app will do. For a service business the test is different: can the project also tell you what the work cost and what you can invoice? A board full of finished tasks cannot tell you whether the client was profitable.</p><p>In PLYNTUM, each client job is a project with its value and dates. Break it into tasks and subtasks with owners, deadlines and estimated hours, and view them as a list, a board, a calendar, a week or a timeline. Monthly work, such as a retainer report, repeats from a recurring task template. When a client asks for something new, agree it first, then add it as a task with an owner and an estimate. People record time on the same tasks, so the plan and the hours are one record.</p><p>Launch covers 5 members, 10 active clients and 20 projects, which is enough for most teams starting out. Core costs $150 a month on monthly billing, or $120 a month billed annually: $1,440 a year instead of $1,800. You can add three more people before the price changes. The eleventh member moves you to Scale, at $450 a month or $360 billed annually.</p><h3>Against a per-seat stack</h3><p>A common alternative is a task app plus time tracking with invoicing, each charged per person. Prices below are from the vendors’ own pages, checked 25 September 2026 (ClickUp and Harvest on 24 October 2026), on annual billing and excluding tax.</p><table><thead><tr><th scope=\"col\">Tool</th><th scope=\"col\">What it covers</th><th scope=\"col\">Per person a month</th><th scope=\"col\">7 people, a month</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>ClickUp Business</td><td>Tasks, docs and chat</td><td>$17</td><td>$119</td></tr><tr><td>Harvest Teams</td><td>Time tracking and invoices</td><td>$9</td><td>$63</td></tr><tr><td>Forecast</td><td>Who works on what, and when</td><td>$5</td><td>$35</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Stack total</strong></td><td>Three separate tools</td><td>$31</td><td><strong>$217</strong> ($2,604 a year)</td></tr><tr><td><strong>PLYNTUM Core, billed annually</strong></td><td>The workspace described above, 10 members included</td><td>Per workspace, not per person</td><td><strong>$120</strong> ($1,440 a year)</td></tr></tbody></table><p>For this studio the stack costs $97 a month more than Core billed annually, or $1,164 a year. Two caveats:</p><ul><li><strong>A leaner stack comes close.</strong> Drop Forecast and step down to ClickUp Core at $9, and 7 people cost 7 × ($9 + $9) = $126 a month, $6 more than PLYNTUM Core billed annually. On price the two are close; the case for PLYNTUM is one record instead of two.</li><li><strong>Steps cut both ways.</strong> The stack grows by $31 with every hire, while PLYNTUM stays flat up to 10 members and then jumps.
